Mon district holds NMBA review meeting

Dimapur, Oct. 17 (EMN): The Mon district-level committee for Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (NMBA) held its monthly review meeting on October 16 in the conference hall of the deputy commissioner’s office. The meeting was chaired by the deputy commissioner (DC) and chairman of district level committee, Mon, Thavaseelan K.

Addressing the members, the DC informed about the constitution and function of the state-level and district-level committees as well as the aims and programmes of NMBA, informed an update issued by the deputy commissioner of Mon on Saturday.

Since the constitution of the district committee in the month of August, the committee has initiated various awareness activities and video lectures, an update from the DC Mon stated. He stated that as per the guidelines, Mon district has also identified 26 master volunteers from various fields, who would be trained and carry out various activities across the district.

The DC stated that various IEC material have also been developed in addition to a theme song for NMBA. Under the campaign, he stated that Mon district has also activated a dedicated 24×7 Helpline for easy access to information, services and any kind of assistance.

Besides, he also stated that the district level committee has collaborated with the Konyak Baptist Bumeinok Banjum (KBBB), an apex organisation of the Konyak Baptist Churches, to form youth clubs in all the villages and towns of the district. The concept of those “Yes to life” clubs, according to the DC, was to engage the youth in various positive and constructive activities in an effort to keep them away from substance abuse.

The calendar of activities to be undertaken till March 2021 was also placed before the house for discussion and approval.  

The DC further reminded the house that Mon district is one of the three districts in Nagaland (out of the total 272 districts in India) selected for the campaign. He has, therefore, urged all stakeholders to strive hard of the opportunity and reap the benefits of the campaign.

Besides Mon district, Dimapur and Kohima are the two districts in Nagaland chosen for NMBA in Nagaland.
