Dimapur, Sep. 18 (EMN): Mon district administration, in collaboration with Mahila Shakti Kendra (MSK) – District Level Centre for Women (DLCW) – celebrated the girl child day at Police Unit School, Mon, on September 18. The programme was initiated under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao campaign.
The programme was chaired by Neijoi Konyak, MSK district coordinator in which a total of 50 students participated in the programme.

T Matsung Ao, administrator of Police Unit School, gave an introduction on behalf of the school. He briefly highlighted on the importance of girl child day to the students.

Ngepshom Konyak, MSK women welfare officer, spoke on the importance of girl child stating that if a girl child is educated, she could play a major role in the society. She emphasised on equal treatment for both boys and girls and the importance of avoiding gender bias.

Stating that development begins at home, she encouraged the students to exercise their rights in the family and school. She further encouraged the girl students not to shy away but rather play an active roles in a wide range of activities. The vote of thanks was delivered by Olem Konyak, MSK coordinator.
