Dimapur, Jan. 3 (EMN):
A Mon-bound passenger bus (night super) was reduced to cinders in a devastating fire which occurred at around 5 am on Sunday morning near Lampong Sheanghah village, about 15 km from Mon headquarters.

Officer in-charge of Mon fire station, Soyhunlo Kent, informed Eastern Mirror that they received report about the incident at 5:5 am, following which a quick response team was mobilised and pressed into service to douse the fire.

While all the four passengers in the bus managed to escape unhurt with some few personal belonging, Kent informed that nothing could be salvaged from the fire. It was reported that the fateful bus had undergone an engine repairing work at Guwahati before it embarked on the journey from Dimapur to Mon. It was suspected that the engine might have caught fire due to over-heating.

According to report, properties worth approximately INR 50 lakh was lost in the incident.
