Mokokchung traders say no to ‘registration and collection’ by armed Naga groups

Mokokchung, Sep. 7 (EMN): Following a ‘letter’ received from one of the armed Naga political groups directing ‘registration’ of shops in Mokokchung district, the Mokokchung Chamber Of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) on Thursday decided not to entertain any of such directives. This was decided in an emergency general meeting of the MCCI  here on Thursday.
According to a highly reliable source, the business community of Mokokchung received a letter from one of the armed Naga groups on August 30 last that required them to “undertake shop registrations under Ao region.”Consequently, the MCCI called for a meeting on Thursday during which it resolved:
• Business establishments in Mokokchung district shall not undertake ‘Shop Registration’ with any Naga National Political Group/s.
• The business community of Mokokchung district shall not entertain collection of any kind of donations and/or illegal taxation by any government or non-governmental agency or any groups/individuals.
