Dimapur, Nov. 2 (EMN): The Mokokchung Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) has called off its proposed indefinite closure of shops and business establishments in Mokokchung town with immediate effect. The MCCI issued a statement on Friday informing it was calling off the shutdown “in good faith and in the spirit of amity, and in the interest of maintaining peace and tranquility in Mokokchung.” According to the trader’s body, a ‘marathon meeting’ was held between representatives of MCCI and officials of NSCN/GPRN in the presence of Ao Senden and All Ward Union Mokokchung (AWUM) members at MCCI conference hall on Friday to address the issues at hand. “After cordial exchange of views and opinions, and taking into consideration the larger interest of preserving and promoting peaceful atmosphere in Mokokchung, both parties mutually agreed to defuse the situation and adopted a three-point resolution to this effect. MCCI would like to acknowledge the proactive and positive role played by Ao Senden in mediating between the parties involved to help establish the amicable solution arrived at today and the AWUM for their all-out support. MCCI also appreciates the Mokokchung district administration and police for their prompt action and cooperation,” the statement read.
