Mokokchung tobacco task force members trained on Copta guidelines
Dimapur, Nov. 17 (EMN): A training on guidelines of Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (Copta) 2003 for tobacco task force team was conducted in the conference hall of the chief medical officer (CMO), Mokokchung, on November 17.
A report from the office of the CMO, Mokokchung, stated that Dr. Taliwaba, NTCP district nodal officer, welcomed the participants and explained the guidelines to the law enforcers for effective implementation of tobacco control laws.
It also stated that Nukshiwati, NTCP consultant, made a PowerPoint presentation on COPTA 2003 and other related tobacco control laws as well as its objectives, important sections of the Act, enforcement mechanism/ authorised persons and their roles, prohibition of smoking in public places, the regulations under Section 6(a), prohibition of sale to minors below the age of 18 years and direction to authorised officers to enforce Section 5 and 7.
The participants included officials from Ao Kaketshir Mungdang (AKM), SDPO, officer-in-charge of police station II, food safety officer, and deputy chief medical officer.
