Mokokchung to Chare road restricted for widening project
DIMAPUR — The Mokokchung district administration has informed that vehicular movement along the Mokokchung to Chare route via Dikhu shortcut will be restricted from January 12, until the completion of the on-going road widening project.
Travellers from Mokokchung to Tuensang and vice versa, have been advised to take the alternative routes — the existing NH- 02 (Mokokchung to Chare via Tsutsung – Moalenden – Meyilong) or the Mokokchung – Chuchuyimpang – Longmisa – Alisopur -Trongar-NH 02-Tuensang route.
In an order issued through the state DIPR, Deputy Commissioner of Mokokchung, Thsuvisie Phoji informed that the project ‘Construction of widening work of existing single lane road to immediate lane road from Mokokchung to Chare via Dikhu river in the state of Nagaland on EPC mode’ is being carried out by UNC Construction Co. Pvt. Ltd.
The construction company will start earth cutting work on high rise, steep terrains by deploying machinery and the use of explosives. The main objective is to ensure the safety of travellers facilitating the smooth progress of the route construction work, the DC explained.
It said that certain conditions and relaxations have been specified and a window period for vehicular movement has been established between 11 am to 12:30 pm and 3 pm to 4:30 pm from Monday to Saturday.
During this period, movement will be allowed for farmers and sanitation trucks of the Mokokchung Municipal Council engaged in garbage dumping duties, the order stated.
“The Company shall ensure the safety of the travellers/public using the road by properly managing traffic flow along the route. The Company should follow all relevant rules of the Explosives Act/Rule, 2008. The Company shall be solely held responsible for any damages to live and property caused during the course of execution of the work,” it read.
