A seminar on energy conservation was conducted in two schools in Mokokchung district, Mayangnokcha Higher Secondary School and Model Higher Secondary School of Mokokchung on May 14 in Mokokchung town. The ‘awareness campaign’ to spread information about conserving energy was organized by the Nagaland State Development Agency (NSDA), of the Government of Nagaland. NSDA is an agency that exerts efforts and initiatives for the state towards spreading information among the public about energy conservation.
Consultant of the NSDA, Nilanjan Bose, and Assistant Director of Bengal Chamber of Commerce of Industry, Arnab , were the resource persons for the seminar.
A paper on energy conservation was presented to the students by Nilanjan Bose. The paper covered topics on efficient energy use and conscious use of energy.
Likewise, Arnab Chakraborty gave a detailed explanation about the energy labels that are on the everyday domestic electrical appliances that one uses. The attention of the students in the seminar was tested through a quiz competition were various questions were asked after the papers were presented.
Students of six schools from Mokokchung participated in the seminar. They are Mayangnokcha Higher Secondary School, Children School, Imsutemjen Higher Secondary School, Model Higher Secondary School, Jubilee Memorial Higher Secondary School and Edith Doughlas Higher Secondary School.
