Mokokchung, Oct. 13 (EMN): Mokokchung recorded its first Covid-19 death and highest surge of positive cases on October 13.
IMDH officials informed that a sexagenarian man, who was brought to the hospital at around 5 pm on October 12 and tested positive for Covid-19, succumbed to the virus at 2 am on Tuesday morning.
Doctors informed that the deceased had pre-existing medical conditions of diabetes when he contracted the contagious virus.
The medical superintendent of IMDH, Dr. Medem, informed that OPD has been suspended in the hospital as a precautionary measure.
Meanwhile, 18 police personnel from DEF Mokokchung, who were undergoing quarantine at New Reserved after completing their deployment to various Check gates in Mokokchung district, were detected Covid-19 positive on Tuesday. Including the deceased, a total of 19 positive cases were recorded in Mokokchung district on Tuesday.
Mokokchung deputy commissioner, Limawabang Jamir has ordered the sealing of four houses in three wards after Covid-19 cases were reported. The houses are H N0. 78 in Kichutip Ward, H N0. 421 in Dilong Ward and H N0. 304 and H N0. 132 in Arkong Ward.
Jamir stated that the demarcated areas have been sealed in order to contain the spread of the disease and for necessary contact tracing.
All movement of persons and vehicles within the defined sealed areas have been strictly restricted and prohibited and kept under active surveillance with effect from the date of sealing, the order stated.
In another report, AKM officials, who were kept at Circuit House paid quarantined facility, tested negative on Monday night. AKM officials have gone under self-isolation and home quarantine as a precautionary measure after two of its officials were detected with Covid-19.
