Dimapur, Dec. 2 (EMN): The core committee of four youth associations, comprising Artang, Lijaba Lijen, Majakong and Penli wards, has postponed its proposed indefinite road blockade from Artang Junction to Police Point by two weeks after assurance from the state government to initiate the repairing work of the Dr. Imkongliba Memorial District (IMDH) road in Mokokchung town.

In a letter to the Advisor of Urban Development and Municipal Affairs through the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Mokokchung, the committee said that the decision was taken at an emergency meeting held on December 1.

The committee said that it was informed by DC Shashank Pratap Singh about the fund being released and initiation of the repair work once the Urban Engineering Wing of the department completes all necessary official procedures.

“Therefore, it has been resolved that in good faith and to facilitate the Urban Development Department in completing the necessary official procedures, the scheduled bandh is postponed for 14 days, until December 15, 2022,” read the letter.

However, it said that it will go ahead with its own course of action if the concerned authorities fail to complete the official works within the fortnight and begin the work.

The committee had earlier threatened to indefinite bandh along Artang Junction-Police Point road from December 2 onwards upon expiry of its six-day ultimatum.
