Mokokchung police busts inter-district vehicle theft gang, recovers 10 vehicles

Mokokchung, June 8 (EMN): Mokokchung Police on Tuesday busted an inter-district vehicle theft gang and arrested seven persons in connection with the robberies.
A statement from Superintendent of Police, Mokokchung, informed that the case unravelled when a person who was trying to flee with a stolen motorcycle on May 25 was arrested at Aongza Ward in Mokokchung town.
It stated that a chain of events and modus-operandi committed by the theft gang was unravelled through classic police investigation and arrested four more co-accused from Wokha and two from Mokokchung on different dates.
The arrested person have been identified as Nzubemo (29 ) from Chukitong, Wokha district; Myanthung (27) from Chukitong, Wokha district; Nchumbemo (27) from Chukitong, Wokha district; Amos (41) from Tsumang ‘A’ Colony, Wokha district; Phyobemo (34) from Pongidong, Wokha district; Kumar Chetri (35), Aongza ward, Mokokchung town; and Imnalemba (28), Artang ward, Mokokchung town.
The statement also stated that a total of 10 vehicles — eight from Wokha and two from Mokokchung — were recovered and several cases have been registered under Police Station-I and Police Station-II Mokokchung in this connection.
Follow-up investigations are ongoing, the statement added.
The recovered vehicles included two Gypsy, three Alto, three Maruti 800 and two motorcycles.
