DIMAPUR — Along with the rest of the country, Mokokchung district observed ‘Menstrual Hygiene Day’ at General Nursing and Midwifery Hostel and different health units under Mokokchung district, on May 28.
Dr. Imsongienla, RBSK, who spoke on the topic ‘Menstrual hygiene’, said that most girls in the country have no idea what has happened to them when they reach their menarche.
So the idea of Menstrual Hygiene Day is to dedicate a day where people can talk about menstruation, which is usually not spoken about and to create awareness about menstrual hygiene management, she said.

Awareness on the importance of menstruation, menstrual hygiene, use and proper disposal of sanitary product were also highlighted, followed by distribution of sanitary pads.
The programme was chaired by Dr. Takosunep DPO (RCH/UIP).
