Mokokchung Inter-Ward Football Tournament: Sangtemla beat Sungkomen to reach final

• MOKOKCHUNG — Sangtemla secured a 3-2 victory over Sungkomen in the semi-final of the Inter-Ward Football Tournament 2025 at Imkongmeren Sports Complex, Mokokchung, on Thursday, earning a place in the final against Dilong on April 5.

• The match saw its first goal in the 38th minute when Bapen scored for Sangtemla following a quick build-up. Sungkomen responded just before halftime in the 43rd minute. Skipper Tarepnungsang outpaced Sangtemla’s defenders and delivered a long pass to Medemmar, who headed the ball into the net to equalise.

• In the second half, Sangtemla regained the lead from a free kick. Opangtemjen struck a powerful shot past the goalkeeper to make it 2-1. Sungkomen responded in the 60th minute with another goal from Tarepnungsang, bringing the score to 2-2.

• The decisive moment came when Sangtemla’s R Achi capitalised on a defensive error by Sungkomen, stealing the ball and scoring to seal the win.
