Mokokchung hosts quiz, debate for students

[caption id="attachment_273834" align="aligncenter" width="565"] Students at the district quiz competition and youth parliamentary debate sponsored by dept. of Parliamentary Affairs, on September 26 in Mokokchung.[/caption] Our Correspondent Mokokchung, Sep. 26 (EMN): A district quiz competition and youth parliamentary debate was conducted on Thursday at the Mayangnokcha government higher secondary school in Mokokchung. The department of Parliamentary Affairs sponsored the programme. Students from six schools participated in the competitions. The schools included Mayangnokcha govt. higher secondary school (MGHSS), Senayangba govt. higher secondary school (SGHSS), NI Jamir govt. higher secondary school (NIJGHSS), Queen Mary higher secondary school (QMHSS), Model higher secondary school (MHSS) and Straightway higher secondary school (SHSS). In the quiz, 15 students were grouped into five teams. The team composed of Tarangbo (SGHSS), Imsutenla P Lkr (MGHSS) and Genevieve H Kiho (QMHSS) bagged the first position. The youth parliamentary debate competition was conducted on the topic “Register of Indigenous Inhabitants of Nagaland a blessing or a curse.” Opanglemba Kichu (QMHSS), representing the affirmative, was declared the best debater while the best debater from the negative went to Supongwati Aier of QMHSS. Satemkala, assistant district eduction officer of Mokokchung, was the guest of honour at the event. She urged the students to be actively involved in extracurricular activities to sharpen their minds. Extracurricular activities help students to come out of their shells to explore new ideas and thoughts, she said.
