Forest department officials along with stakeholders after the review meeting in Mokokchung town on Tuesday.

Mokokchung, April 5 (EMN): The Divisional Management Unit of Mokokchung Forest Division of Nagaland Forest Management Project held its annual review meeting for the year 2021-22, at CF office complex in Marepkong, Mokokchung, on April 4 and 5.

During the meeting T Aochuba, director of Intangki National Park, stated that the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) is an important project for the State of Nagaland and expressed happiness to see the success of the project in Mokokchung district. While stating that the plantation activities were successfully implemented, he encouraged all the JFMC members to continue with the same zeal.

The Divisional Forest Officer cum DMU Head Mokokchung, Dr. Sentitula, stated that this is the 3rd year of implementation of the project on the field.

The villages covered under JICA project are Changtongya New, Mopungchuket and Mongsenyimti under Batch-I. Sungratsu, Chakpa, Longmisa, Yaongyimsen, Salulamang and Merangkong under Batch-II.

The area covered under plantation was 3,385 Ha and total saplings planted was 5,96,633 under 38 forestry intervention models across the district.

The project has also developed MIS applications and GIS mobile applications, which enabled field officials/ FNGO teams/ JFMC members to update/ upload data and photos from their respective areas in real time.

She also presented the case study on water harvesting structures initiative undertaken under Mokokchung division, which has provided access to adequate amounts of clean water is important to ensure a good quality of life.

“The Nagaland Forest Management Project initiative towards construction of water harvesting structures in all the JICA villages has resulted very positively towards adequate supply of water to all the households as well as water being made available for Agri and allied Livelihood activities,” she said.

It informed that the batch-II villages under Mokokchung DMU have resulted in successful construction and convergence of the programme with the village councils and Public Health Engineering Department (Phed).

Progress of work and activities for the year ending March 2022 were presented by the field staff in-charges of all the villages Tiarenba Forester-I and Aosungla Forester-I, while the financial status and progress of works were presented by Mokokchung Range Officer I Sashilemla and Changtongya Beat Officer Moamongba.

The Divisional Management Unit Supporting staff Wapang, accounts assistant, and Talimeren, convergence expert, presented the annual plan operation for the year 2022-23.

The Joint Forest Management Committee (JFMC) presidents of Changtongya New, Mongsenyimti, Mopungchuket, Salulamang, Yaongyimsen, Merangkong, Chakpa, Longmisa and Sungratsu have made detail power point presentation of all the works undertaken during the year.
