Mokokchung extends lockdown with additional relaxations

The deputy commissioner of Mokokchung, Limawabang Jamir, has extended the lockdown in the district from July 1 to the 10 with additional relaxations/ directives.

In an order issued on Wednesday, the DC informed that shops and businesses would be allowed to open between 6 am and 2 pm.

Besides keeping hand sanitisers for use by the visitors and taking measures for ensuring Covid-19 appropriate at all times, it stated that every shop should prominently display the status of vaccination of all the persons present running the shop.

The barbers shops and saloons etc. would be allowed to open after ensuring vaccination of the persons/ attendants running those shops as per the guidelines, the order stated.

While all government and private offices may function with 50 percent attendance subjected to adherence of Covid-19 behaviours, it stated that 50 percent staff of the government office not attending on any day should work from home and be available on phone/mail for dealing with urgent office work.

It also stated that movement of persons/vehicles would be banned from 7 pm to 4 am, except those permitted for reason/purpose as per the existing lockdown measures. It added that mass public transportation and inter-district movement of people for non-essential services would remain suspended.

It has allowed wedding solemnisation, funerals and sports training subjected to an attendance of not more than 50 persons and adherence to Covid-19 appropriate behaviours and to all the laid down Covid-19 protocols and SOPs. Church services would continue to be held via online mode/ PA system, it informed.

In another order, the DC has also issued guidelines for the opening of shops and business establishments in Mokokchung from July 1 to the 10th.

Under the guidelines shops and business establishments dealing in milk and potable water carrier, vegetable and fruits, LPG and fuel station, tyre repairing, telecom and recharge outlets, print/ media and bookstalls, coffins and flower shop, food and medical agencies, meat and fish (fresh and dry), and agri-allied would be opened from Monday to Saturday.

Pharmacies, hospitals, nursing homes and other health clinics would be allowed to open 24/7, while the restaurants would be allowed to cater through home delivery service. It has also allowed food delivery, groceries delivery and other e-commerce service providers.    

Shops dealing in grocery, utensils, paan shops, betel nuts and leave would be opened on Monday and Thursday), while hardware, electrical, electronics and repairing, stationery and variety stores, photo and photocopy points, steel fabrications would be allowed to open on Tuesday and Friday and garment and tailoring, cosmetics, furniture, motor parts and workshops, marble engraving, sports equipments, salons and parlour would be opened on Wednesday and Saturday.

Meanwhile, the odd-even system for vehicular movement has also been extended from July 1 to the 10th. It informed that intra-district vehicular movement entering Mokokchung municipal area should follow the odd-even system. The exempted vehicles included inter-state vehicles carrying essential commodities and goods, inter-state vehicles movement of essential nature and travelling with a valid permit; government / private vehicles engaged in essential service Covid-19 duty/ medical emergency.
