Mokokchung DPDB decides to translate Nagaland Village Council Act in Ao dialect

: The District Planning Development Board (DPDB) Mokokchung district has approved and recommended for setting up a committee to work on translation of the Nagaland Village Council Act in Ao dialect to ensure that the village administration is empowered and have a greater understanding of the Act.

Due to the pandemic, the monthly DPDB meeting was held at NIC conference hall through video conference on Wednesday.

The video conference was attended by DPDB chairman and NLA Speaker Shariangain Longkumer along with minister Tongpang Ozukum, advisor Imnatiba and MLA Imkong L Imchen from Kohima.

The house also stressed on the importance of disseminating information regarding all the schemes and projects, both central and state, being implemented in the district and directed all the implementing departments to provide status report in the coming DPDB meeting.

On sensitisation campaign and abuse of social media, SP Mokokchung stated that action plans are being initiated by the Police department to be implemented in the near future.

The house also deliberated on the augmentation of water supply to Mokokchung town. The PHED Mokokchung division executive engineer, Yanger Pongen, submitted the proposal, which was approved and forwarded for further necessary steps to the government.

The house also discussed to develop dairying under Mokokchung district which was put-up by the Mokokchung district dairy farmers. The house agreed in principle to initiate and take steps for the development of dairy farming in the district.

The meeting also recommended the setting up of a committee under the chairmanship of chairman/ vice-chairman DPDB along with Dr. Simon as the representative from the District Veterinary Office and any other members from the committee.

In this matter, the chairman of DPDB also stressed on the importance of developing dairy farming in the district and urged the house to pursue the project on a war footing.

The house also reviewed the construction of P Shilu Ao Park Mokokchung and directed the Urban Development officers to bring out detailed reports on the expenditure and fund requirement to be presented before the DPDB members.

Likewise, the house reviewed the construction of the youth hostel, wherein the DSO Mokokchung was requested to submit the detailed report of the construction to the chairman of DPDB to take appropriate decisions.

ADC Tuli, Imsongmeren also informed the house on the dilapidated condition of Kendriya Vidyalaya in Tuli, to which the board requested the ADC Tuli to prepare and submit a detailed status of the school to the DPDB chairman for further steps.

The house also tabled for discussion on the present status of ICIT Mokokchung and possibilities of future upgrade.

Further, the house reviewed the plight of traffic congestion in Mokokchung town and recommended bringing out a proper road mapping by the Urban Development office to ease the congestion. The house also requested the district administration to strictly monitor the constructions of buildings along the town road and ensure proper parking spaces.

The DPDB chairman also recommended setting up of two-tier committees- MMC Mokokchung to look into the possibilities of road widening and expansion and SP Mokokchung to work out modalities and plan for parking arrangement. The committee was further requested to formulate the plans in tandem with the recently realised Mokokchung Vision 2040.

The house also approved cassava cultivation projects at Ungma village, the nomenclature of Oriental School to Bridges Academy, Changtongya, and the registration of new societies.
