Mokokchung, Oct. 10 (EMN): The fourth edition of Mokokchung District Inter Club Badminton Championship 2019 organised by Mokokchung District Badminton Association (MDBA) got underway at Indoor Badminton Stadium, Mokokchung on Thursday.
Professor Pardeshi Lal, Vice Chancellor of Nagaland University was the guest of honour for the opening ceremony.
Acknowledging MDBA’s efforts for organising the event annually, Lal said such tournament will definitely enhance the spirit and nurture the talent of the young players. He encouraged the association to have a vision of promoting young players in various platforms.
“It will definitely make an impact towards achieving a greater goal for each enthusiastic player,” he asserted.
Lal further asserted that quality of sports is not only about skill and technique; it requires a good sporting spirit and discipline.
Earlier, executive secretary of ABAM, Rev Dr Mar Atsongchanger urged the participants to use their talents judiciously no matter what life may bring.
The teams have been divided into two pools and the league cum knockout matches will be played accordingly. The teams in pool A are: Shuttlers Chuchuyimpang ‘B’; L4 Badminton, Impur; Native Shuttlers Mopungchuket, Team 2; Soyim Smashers Power and DC Team
The teams in Pool B are: Longsa Sporting Club; Shuttlers’ Chuchuyimpang ‘A’; Native Shuttlers Mopungchuket, Team 1; Soyim Smashers Speed and Badminton Association Khensa.
