Mokokchung council hosts seminar about plastic-free environs

Mokokchung, April 25 (EMN): A seminar about plastic waste management was organised by the Mokokchung Municipal Council (MMC) in collaboration with the Clean Mokokchung Campaign (CMC) at Mokokchung town, at various schools.
The campaign was held on two days, April 24 and the 25th.
On both the days, CMC and MMC members led by Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) W Manpai Phom, visited three schools where he delivered the keynote address.

The ADC gave a gist of the efforts being taken by the MMC and the state government to curb the problem of plastic pollution. He urged the students to work towards a cleaner and plastic-free environment.

The resource persons were members of the CMC namely Limasenla Jamir, assistant professor at Jubilee Memorial College; Sashinungla Nathan, proprietor of Blossoms pre-school; and Hannah Imchen, a trainer in phonetics.

The resource persons gave presentations on the use of plastic and its harmful effect on the environment and on human health. They stressed on the ways by which citizens can refuse, reuse and reduce plastic, the updates stated.

The MMC and CMC members also pasted publicity posters. The posters portrayed images showing the impact of plastic on the world, and in the local context.
