‘Mokokchung Cart’ donates vegetables to needy families

Mokokchung, April 30 (EMN): Mokokchung Cart, an initiation of the Mokokchung district administration, has donated fresh vegetables and pulses to more than hundred families in Mokokchung town by delivering it to their doorsteps.

EAC Mokokchung and nodal officer of Mokokchung Cart, Sentilong Ozukum said the home delivery of fresh vegetables project was initiated to meet the needs of some genuine needy families in the town, who have been identified by the volunteers and delivery personnel.

“For more than a month, Mokokchung Cart team has been relentlessly trying to find market for the local farmers, who couldn’t sell their vegetables during the lockdown, by going and picking up the vegetables from the villages and selling them through the Mokokchung Cart app,” said the young officer. He added that Mokokchung Cart is a non-profit initiation of the district administration saying, “we procured the fresh vegetables and pulses directly from the farmers and delivered the products at the doorsteps.”

He added that the Mokokchung Cart project would continue if there is demand even after the lockdown is lifted.

The Mokokchung Cart app is powered by delivery personnel from Online Express, such as the Trail Hounds team which has been home delivering essential commodities, medicines and vegetables by following strict Covid-19 protocol.

The nodal officer has appreciated the Horticulture department for donating crates for storing the vegetables, Mokokchung Town Lanur Telongjem for donating cotton delivery bags, Team Impact Marep Mokokchung for donating paper carry bags for use during the delivery and also SHGs from NSRLM Mokokchung for coordinating with the local farmers.
