Heavy vehicles with over two axles are barred on NH-702D in Mokokchung after landslides disrupted road connectivity and safety
MOKOKCHUNG — In response to extensive damage to road infrastructure caused by incessant rainfall and landslides, the deputy commissioner of Mokokchung has imposed restrictions on the movement of heavy vehicles with more than two axles along National Highway 702D.
The order, issued on the evening of July 21, came into immediate effect and prohibits the movement of all motor vehicles with more than two axles on NH-702D—the district's primary road link to Assam—until further orders.
Continuous rainfall and multiple landslides have severely disrupted road connectivity across several parts of the district, making it difficult for heavy vehicles to ply the affected highway. In view of the prevailing situation, the district administration has prioritised keeping the road open for essential traffic.

According to the order, light motor vehicles (LMVs) and medium motor vehicles (MMVs) will continue to be allowed on NH-702D. However, the movement of heavy motor vehicles with more than two axles has been prohibited to minimise risks and ensure the highway remains accessible for commuters and the transportation of essential commodities and emergency services.
The restriction will remain in force until further orders.
