DIMAPUR — The premiere of Moko Koza’s official music video ‘Boy from the Hills’ was held at the Regional Centre for Excellence in Music & Performing Arts (RCEMPA), Jotsoma in Nagaland on Monday.

An update from the record label, Infinity Inc. issued on Monday informed that the event, which featured an exclusive screening of the music video before its official release, saw a packed attendance of dignitaries, friends, family, and enthusiastic supporters.

Signed to, and managed by the music label Infinity Inc., Moko Koza is a rapper and songwriter from Nagaland.

The artiste’s ‘Boy from the Hills’ is a heartfelt narrative that explores the impact of World War II in Nagaland and the unwavering determination of the Naga community to safeguard their cultural heritage.

‘With its compelling storytelling and captivating visuals, the music video serves as a heartfelt homage to the resilience of Nagaland’s elders during a crucial historical era,’ the update informed.

Special guest for the premiere Abu Metha, Adviser to the Chief Minister and Chairman of IDAN impressed by the video’s quality and storytelling, suggested that all Nagas should watch it and find inspiration, as it transcends music to encompass history.

The premiere of “Boy from the Hills” left attendees with a profound sense of pride in Naga culture and a renewed appreciation for the power of storytelling through art.

Theja Meru, Chairman of the Task Force for Music and Arts (TAFMA); Hovithal Sothu, Project Director TaFMA; Medovilie Ladu, Joint Director Agriculture Department; and Asalie Peseyie, CEO Infinity Inc. attended the programme.

‘Boy From The Hills is more than just a song; it’s a powerful narrative that echoes the stories of our ancestors, the resilience of our people, and the indomitable spirit of Nagaland. The song speaks of a past marked by the Battle of Kohima, a turning point in history. It brings to life the tales of World War 2, the Japanese invasion, and the strength of Naga mothers who sang lullabies amidst the horrors of war,’ the update further informed.

The music video was directed by Asalie Peseyie, filmed by San Production, shot by Sanen Kichu, produced by Rylo and Ina, and promoted by Digital 112.

Moko Koza’s impact extends beyond music, he maintains a strong connection with his roots and actively addresses social issues within his state, earning the admiration of his fans.

Moko Koza’s talent has gained recognition on a wider scale with accolades like the Best Hip-Hop/Rap award at the 2023 Radio City Freedom Awards and more recently, the prestigious TaFMA Excellence Award 2023 in the field of music presented by the Governor of Nagaland, La. Ganesan.
