Modi to lead BJP campaign in Nagaland

Dimapur, Feb. 9: (EMN): The Nagaland unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has requested its central leaders to let Prime Minister Narendra Modi spearhead the party’s election campaign for the assembly polls in Nagaland. According to the state’s BJP, its election management committee has requested the BJP's central head office for ‘star campaigners in the phase of campaigning’ in Nagaland which includes Modi, the BJP's president Amit Shah, Home Minister Rajnath Singh; minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari, minister for Information and Broadcasting and Textiles Smriti Irani; minister of state for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju and Manoj Tiwari, Delhi's BJP chief. A press statement from the party informed that the BJP's national general secretary for organisation Ramalal accompanied by Northeast organisation in-charge Ajay Jamwal paid a two-day visit to Dimapur during Feb. 8-9 ‘in preparation of the ensuing assembly election poll.’ The duo was informed to have met its pre-poll ally Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) representative Neiphiu Rio and the Nagaland BJP's chief Visasolie Lhoungu during a ‘joint coordination meeting.’ They also met with BJP candidates from Dimapur Tovihoto Ayemi and N Jacob Zhimomi; members of the BJP election management committee, and party workers. Ramlal encouraged the party's members to work hard to achieve Modi’s agenda of development and peace in the region, it stated. Also, it informed that the party’s central leaders were ‘satisfied with the preparedness’ of the state unit.
