Dimapur, July 21 (EMN): Modern College in Piphema held its 4th graduation day on Friday with Prof. GT Thong, pro-vice chancellor of Nagaland University, Kohima campus, Meriema, as the special guest.
In his speech, Prof. Thong challenged the graduates to be risk-takers, grow beyond mediocrity and to use their grit and determination to achieve their goals. He also implored the students to become responsible stewards of the environment.
An update from the college stated that the prayer of blessings for the graduates was pronounced by Mhasikhotso Shüya, senior advisor of EU, while a song was presented by M-1 hostellers.
Speech on behalf of MCSU was delivered by its assistant general secretary, Chumthungo Patton, while speech on behalf of the juniors was delivered by Vivek Patel.
Another song was also presented by Pulovili Lohe, asst professor of English.
Report stated that Moarenla Jamir, University topper from Sociology, and Maongnaro Longkumer, University topper from History, delivered speeches on behalf of the graduates.
The programme culminated with presentation of certificates to the graduates by Keleseno Longkumer, academic officer.
It further stated that Moarenla Jamir was awarded with the newly instituted ‘Dr. S Hekha Mao and A Kaisa Excellence Award’ with a citation and cash prize of INR 25000 and graduate of the year award.
A total of 49 students successfully graduated from the institution.
