Moderate rainfall expected in Nagaland, other NE states next few days

DIMAPUR— Light to moderate rain is very likely to occur at most places over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura on June 1.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) bulletin, the east-west trough now runs from northwest Rajasthan to Nagaland across cyclonic circulation over central parts of south Uttar Pradesh, south Bihar, sub-Himalayan West Bengal and extends up to 0.9 km above mean sea level.

The low pressure area over Northwest Madhya Pradesh and neighbourhood has become less marked. However, the associated cyclonic circulation now lies over central parts of south Uttar Pradesh and neighborhood and extends up to 5.8 km above mean sea level, said IMD.

There is a high likelihood of experiencing light to moderate rainfall across most areas of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura from July 1 to the 4th, it added.

In Nagaland, Peren, Longleng, Tuensang, and Mon districts are anticipated to witness widespread rainfall/thundershowers with a high probability on July 1, while Dimapur, Phek and Kiphire may experience scattered rainfall/ thundershowers on the same date.

Other districts namely Kohima, Wokha, Zunheboto and Mokokchung are very likely to experience thunderstorm and fairly widespread rainfall on the day.
