Dimapur, Jan. 12 (EMN): Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) under Home department has predicted scattered light to moderate rain with few intense spells over many parts of Nagaland on January 12 and 13.

NSDMA updated that initially rain might cover northern parts of the state such as Wokha, Longleng, Mon, Tuensang, Mokokchung and Zunheboto district adding southern parts of the state would also gradually come under rain activities. It informed that the rain activities could be accompanied by thunderstorm and lightning strikes.

While the weather would start clearing up from January 14, it however stated that light isolated rains could continue over southern districts such as Phek, Kohima Dimapur, Kiphire and Peren.

Due to rain activities and cloud cover, the minimum temperature of the state could increase by 2-3 degrees and day temperatures might drop marginally.

In view of the aforesaid weather conditions, NSDMA urged the public to exercise caution to avoid any eventualities during the period. NSDMA also requested all the DDMAs and other line departments, who are responsible to attend to any emergencies caused by natural calamities, to be on alert to save lives and properties during the monsoon period.

It further mentioned Nagaland experienced dry weather during the last few days due to easterly winds blowing over the entire northeast India including Nagaland.
