DIMAPUR — The deputy commissioner (DC) and district election officer (DEO) of Peren, Vineet Kumar, has notified that the model code of conduct (MCC) has come into force with immediate effect in the district.

According to a DIPR report, Kumar further issued detectives to be implemented throughout Peren district.

It stated that all government officials, political parties, and contesting candidates are required to strictly adhere to the MCC issued by the Election Commission of India, and any violation will be dealt with according to the relevant laws and regulations.

All political activities, including rallies, public meetings, and processions, must adhere to the guidelines outlined in the MCC. Any political gathering must obtain the necessary permission from the appropriate authorities.

“Use of the government’s machinery, resources, and facilities for election campaigning or for any other political purpose by any political party or candidate. This includes vehicles, premises, personnel, and any other government assets,” it said.

It is noted that any incidents of violence, intimidation, or coercion must be dealt with promptly and impartially by law enforcement agencies.

The DC has also given instructions to all departments and officials to strictly implement these directives diligently and ensure full compliance with the MCC.
