Moatoshi inaugurates waiting shed in Dimapur
Dimapur, Feb. 6 (EMN): Member of Legislative Assembly, Moatoshi Longkumer on Saturday inaugurated the alumni centre-cum-students’ waiting shed at Dimapur Government College initiated by Dimapur Government College Alumni Association (DGCAA).
Speaking at the inaugural programme, Longkumer termed the waiting shed as a ‘perfect example of giving back to the society from what they have gained from the institution’. He also congratulated the alumni of the college for coming together in collaboration with DMC in constructing the waiting shed.
Longkumer felt that ‘philanthropic activities should not be taken up by choice but should be nade a way of life so that alumni all over the state can contribute something to their respective institutions’. He further stressed on the need for philanthrophic activities in the Naga society.
Longkumer added that if people truly want to change Nagaland, they must stop ridiculing and criticise the individuals who are working to take them forward.
Also speaking on the occasion, Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) administrator, Albet Ezung, eulogised the alumni members as not only resourceful but also responsible citizens of the society. He stated that DMC has been collaborating with many groups to make Dimapur a better place to live in. He was of the opinion that the initiative undertaken by the DGCAA would promote community participation in many ways.
Also speaking on the occasion, president of DGCAA, K Temjen Jamir informed that the construction of alumni centre-cum-students’ waiting shed was started in 2019. He added that the facility was constructed at a cost of INR 17 lakh.
Jamir further acknowledged the DGCAA members, DMC and faculty of Dimapur Government College for the successful completion of the project.
