Mon district observed ‘MGNREGA DAY’ at the resource centre DRDA Mon, with Angau I Thou IAS, Deputy Commissioner and CEO DRDA Mon as the chief guest.
Stating that the ‘MGNREGA’ was purely a ‘grassroot level project’, the Deputy Commissioner Mon, urged upon the gathering to unite and maintain transparency and accountability and follow the laid down guidelines while implementing the MGNREGA projects.
Urging upon the village representatives to introspect, retrospect and compare with the rest of the district, as seen in the film show ‘Redefining Rural Life’ and see how far each village have progress under this project she appealed them to fully and judiciously utilize the project to develop the villages.
Further reminding that the VDB Secretaries should work under the directives of their respective village councils, the DC warned the VDB’s to be cautious in utilizing the funds allotted to their respective villages.
She also urged upon the gathering, representing their villages to disseminate the norms and procedure learnt during seminars and workshops to the villagers.
While delivering the Keynote address, M.Temjen Longchar, P.O DRDA Mon deliberated on the norms and guidelines of the MGNREGA and also informed the gathering of the new proposals for Mon District Annual development plan uploaded. The event was also observed in Kiphire. The event was conducted in Hopongkyu memorial hall on February 2 with village councils and members of Kiphire district under DRDA Kiphire with Civil SDO Sardar, Dr. Tinojungshi Kiphire as the chief guest.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Tinojungshi spoke on the importance of Human Investment through schemes and said, “Assisting on human is the greatest investment.” He also urged the gathering not to depend much on machines but use man’s power and focus on real work for individual benefits. Check and balanced should be implemented in the field of every works, he said and called upon them to work for the betterment of Kiphire district and further asked the BDOs to supervise their concern blocks.
Tuensang
MGNREGS Day was celebrated at CKS Hall Tuensang with Deputy Commissioner Tuensang Alem Jongshi as the Chief Guest of the Celebration on 2nd February 2015. The celebration was attended by Joint Director RD Government of Nagaland, BDO’s, VDB Chairmen and VDB Secretaries. The celebration was organized by the DRDA Tuensang.
Key note address was given by Joint Director RD Thungchamo, in which he highlighted upon the establishment of the MGNREGA previously called NGRS schemes. The deliberated on how the launching of the schemes has benefitted the rural people.
BDO Noksen Block Tuensang, Ebou Chang shared the concept of the MGNREGA Scheme and goal of the scheme. In which, he said that the scheme is purely focused on the poverty elevation. He also shared the functioning and working statistics of the scheme with reference to the rest of the nation. MGNREGA is such scheme which empowers the villagers in planning and implementations in the development sectors of the village he added and describes the scheme as the back bone of the nation.
Chief guest Alem Jongshi said that the MGNREGA was a scheme empowered by the act of the constitution of the country which is equivalent to that of a law which has a jurisdiction extending to penalty to wrong done of the scheme. He also challenged the members present in the programme to invest the fund flows in sustainable works not just only in infrastructures. In addition he said that the funds certain percentage of the fund should be utilized in income generating works and also should focus in the human developmental activities. He also supplemented on the nature of the schemes that the scheme should be utilized to maximum advantage when is in use before the change of the scheme, since the schemes may change with the change in the times and of the government. Since it is a guaranteed scheme the beneficiaries should be vigil if there is a change in the funding of the funds and it is a responsibility of the beneficiaries check and keep updated with logistic approaches, He added.
Speeches about the benefits of the scheme were also delivered Yamto Khiam and Sonla Chang from Thonoknyu and Sangsangnyu block.
