DIMAPUR — Continuing his initiative to support and motivate students in government schools, Dr. Tseilhoutuo Rhutso, MLA of 9 Kohima Town assembly constituency, visited Government Middle School, Officers’ Hill, on Monday and distributed umbrellas to all the students.

The distribution is part of a programme launched on June 4, through which Dr. Rhutso has already covered 17 government schools, reaching more than 1,500 students, an update stated.

While handing over the umbrellas, the MLA told the students that the gift symbolises protection, shielding them from rain and sun, just as leaders and society should protect the rights of citizens.

Alongside the distribution, Dr. Rhutso, who is also a trained surgeon, shared an inspiring message drawn from his own life. He reminded the students that success depends on daily effort, respect for teachers and parents, and humility.

“It’s not the school or teachers alone that shape your future; it is you, your hard work, and your choices,” he said.

He also highlighted that government school teachers are among the most qualified educators in the state and encouraged students to be disciplined and consistent in their studies.

The students and staff of Government Middle School, Officers’ Hill, thanked the legislator for the inspiring words and thoughtful gesture.

Meanwhile, the MLA hinted that a different gift may be considered for students in the next academic year.
