MLA Dr Bengjoliba attacked, many condemn

Unidentified miscreants in the wee hours of Wednesday fired a couple of rounds at the residence of Dr. Benjongliba, MLA at 5th Mile, Model village in Dimapur. The incident took place at around 1:47 am, informed the police. The police also recovered two empty cases and a bullet head of AK-47 rifle outside the compound during investigation. Again at 12 noon, police received information that there was a grenade in the compound of the MLA. On investigation, police recovered a hand grenade of Chinese made with the safety pin around 10 feet away inside the compound. A case has been registered in this connection and investigation is going on, added the police.

Shurhozelie led NPF condemns
The NPF Central Hqs. Kohima, Nagaland out rightly condemned the ‘barbaric’ action of the ‘mindless’ perpetrators who hurled a bomb into the compound of Dr Benjongliba’s house at the 5th Mile area, Dimapur on February 17 night, for suspected selfish motive and calls for condemnation in the highest form by all right thinking citizens irrespective of caste, tribe, greet or colour including all political parties. It is learned that certain mindless miscreants fired some gun shots at the residence of Dr Bejongliba, causing damage to the water reservoirs and hurled a live hand grenade into the compound which, by providence, did not explode.
The Government will not waste any time in handling the situation and that, the Administration and Police, with the support of the people as well; the culprits will be brought to light at the earliest.

Ao Students’ Conference (AKM)
The Ao Students’ Conference (AKM) has strongly condemned the firing incident at the residence of Dr. Benjongliba MLA at 4th Mile, Dimapur in the wee hours of Wednesday.
According to a press release signed by L. Jemti and Bendangkumab Aier, president and secretary of AKM respectively, it said the firing incident is uncalled for and terms it as a cowardly act. The AKM while condemning the incident said that gunslingers and trigger happy goons can no longer be allowed to reign in the state. The AKM then urged the law enforcing agencies to speed up their process of investigation and nab the culprits responsible for the incident at the earliest. The AKM warned it will not remain a silent spectator to such uncivilized acts in future.

NPF, Alongtaki
The NPF, Alongtaki constituency while strongly condemning the gun attack has said that such act is ‘unbearable and unacceptable.’

Diphupar Village Council
Diphupar Village Council also strongly condemned the attack at the residence of Dr Benjongliba by gunmen and asked the concerned authorities to book the culprits at the earliest.
Ao Senso Telongjem also condemned the gun attack at the residence of the MLA and asked the persons responsible for the incident to come forward and talk with the MLA if they have any problem.
