Mokokchung, April 25 (EMN): District Administration of Mokokchung along with Legal Metrology and Consumer Protection department and Mokokchung Police conducted routine inspection of all fuel stations operated under Mokokchung municipal area, and under Ungma village jurisdiction on Monday.

The team was led by investigating team chairman Vitolu Chishi, EAC Mokokchung (Judicial), officials from Legal Metrology and Consumer Protection department, police and chairman from Sungkomen, Aongza, Mongsenbai, Yimyu wards and Village Council Ungma.

The team checked and verified the fuel dispensing machine measurement standard as per the relevant section of Indian Petroleum Rule 1976 in all fuel stations and also collected quality samples, which will be sent for further laboratory testing.

Chishi speaking to journalists after inspection of three fuel stations, informed that till now the amount of fuel dispensed by the dispensing machine to the public/ consumer is giving out correct measurement and its satisfactory.

He further informed that along with testing of fuel quantity, the team is also checking the quality of the fuel.

“We are collecting samples from each fuel station which will be later sent to the laboratory for further testing of quality,” he said.

Chishi further added the team also inspected the basic amenities for the public in the station like clean drinking water, separate clean toilet facilities with running water for men and ladies, fire extinguisher, fuel dispensing machine seals and free air etc.

“Till now all the public facilities are available in all the previously checked fuel stations,” he said.

Later, while conducting inspection at ESSAR fuel station at Artang ward, the team observed that fuel was not being dispensed as per the standard measurement of fuel.

However, the team found out that it was due to the leakage loss in the machine dispensing system.

In this connection, EAC team leaders directed the manager of the station not to dispense any fuel to the customers fromthe defective pump machine till the machine is repaired.
