Kohima, Sep. 11 (EMN):
MK Vie Variety Store was officially inaugurated by Razouvotuo Chatsu, president of Angami Public Organisation (APO), on Saturday at APO building in Kohima.

Speaking during the inaugural programme, Chatsu appreciated Medo Keyie, the proprietor of the store, for undertaking the new venture amid various challenges. Lamenting that Nagas, especially youngsters usually have the habit of giving up after venturing into any entrepreneurship right after a few months, he emphasised on the need to do away with laziness for any kind of employment or job for survival.

Chatsu hoped that the outlet, which is being run by a local chap, would serve as a source of inspiration to upcoming local entrepreneurs. He further conveyed his best wishes to the proprietor and the staff of the newly inaugurated store in the state capital.

It may be mentioned here that, unlike many others, the owner of the store is employing scores of Naga youths in an effort to provide them with sustainable livelihood.

Medo Keyie informed that he had decided to keep only local youths in his store in order to give employment opportunities while training them on such entrepreneurship as an “encouragement” to them.

Medo also narrated how he had to call in a non – Naga master tailor in his store owing to non-availability of any local youth having skills of such profession. Altogether, nine local and one non-Naga youth have been employed to manage the store.

Though running the business could earn him profit, Keyie said that the “happiness” of his staff mattered a lot to him as well. He added that the salary of his employees would be gradually increased in the later period of time.

Kevipopi Ltu, a well-wisher, remarked that Keyie, who hails from Mima village is a “down to earth” person who has used the “attitude of hard labour with dignity”. He recalled how the proprietor toiled hard and had a humble beginning before becoming an independent entrepreneur.

Ltu also shared how Keyie has been proudly endorsing the rich culture of Angami alive by sporting their traditional shawl outside and within the state whenever he attends any occasion.

MK Vie Variety Store, which is located on the second floor at APO building, deals in retail and wholesale on various goods such as clothing for kids, gents and ladies besides toys, teddys, lunch box, stationeries, all types of school uniforms etc.
