Dimapur, Oct. 23 (EMN): Putting speculations to rest, the Working Committee, Naga National Political Groups (WC NNPG) has said that the misunderstanding within the NSCN (R) has been amicably resolved.

Speculations were rife that the NSCN (R) could be heading for a split after a press release stated to be from the MIP of the group said that it would soon make a “declaration for endorsement” of some important issues and that several leaders had supported the call for “Re-Reformation”.

However, a press statement issued by the media cell of WC NNPG and signed by NSCN (R) President Wangtin Naga, Vice President Akato Chophi and Ato Kilonser P Tikhak said that the reports of a possible split “within NSCN (R) remains nullified and bears no credibility”.

It informed that “the misunderstanding has been resolved amicably and put to rest, keeping in mind the interest of the Nagas at large and the inevitable political solution” following timely intervention of WC NNPG Convenor N Kitovi Zhimomi and other NNPG leaders.

‘Henceforth, the three top leaders of the NSCN (R) shall once again work together cohesively with due consultation with each other and shall continue to strengthen the NNPG till the achievement of our final goal,’ read the statement.

It also expressed regret over a minor internal issue within the party been blown out of proportion and exposed in the public domain.

Claiming that “some elements with ulterior motives have been instigating the collective leaders for vested interest”, it warned to immediately desist from further nefarious and divisive activities.

It may be mentioned that Wangtin Naga and Tikhak had earlier assured in a statement that all the differences within the group would be resolved soon.
