Dimapur, August 7 (EMN): The District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) of Mokokchung has announced a mission to ‘inspire delivery of education’ in government schools in the district.
Deputy Commissioner Sushil Kumar Patel, also the chairman of the planning board, announced a mission to inspire delivery of education in government schools in the district. Disclosing this at the monthly meeting of the DPDB in the conference hall of Additional Deputy Commissioner (planning) on August 7, Patel said that administrative officers would adopt at least one school, frequently visit the school, and will have interaction with teachers and students. This interaction is with the objective to motivate and ‘create inspiration,’ the official said. The event will be in close coordination with the Education department.
The officers’ concern will also have interaction with the teaching community about the healthy environment of the school and about implementation of government schemes such as distribution of books and the mid-day meal scheme.
Also, the deputy commissioner said the noble mission will not be fruitful ‘unless officers other than administration’ actively take part. Patel called upon the heads of department to come forward to actively participate in support of teachers and students.
Deputy Commissioner Patel said a format concerning the mission will soon be circulated to officers who are willing to be a part of the programme. He made it clear that the district administration was just extending support to the Education department to ensure that all children receive ‘quality education in a healthy environment.’
If implemented with vigour, the initiative will help reduce the number of drop-outs from schools.
The board officials also discussed various other agenda. They included creation of extra assistant commissioner headquarters at Luyong and Longnak under the establishment of the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Mangkolemba; Pangsang under the extra assistant commissioner of Chuchuyimlang.
Further, matter about upgrading the establishment of extra assistant commissioner to SDO (civil) for Ongpangkong, Longchem, and Chuchuyimlang were deliberated by the board. It has approved and unanimously decided to forward to the government for necessary action.
Also, during the discussions, the officials strongly felt that the creation of extra assistant commissioner headquarters and upgrading three extra assistant commissioner headquarters to that of sub divisional officer (civil) was necessary for ‘better administration and delivery of services and goods to the people.’
The board has also set up an implementing committee for the LADP for 2017 for all 10 assembly constituencies. Further, the board approved registration and petitions of these groups: People’s College Alumni Association of Mokokchung; establishment of a government primary school at Satsu village in Mangmetong; grant-in-aid to Children Day’s School at Longsa village; change in the nomenclature of the government primary school of Sungkum, Mangmetong to ‘Chubanungba government primary school, Mangmetong.
