Missing former TKS vice president found killed

[dropcap]A[/dropcap] former vice-president of Tangkhul Katamnao Shaklong (student organisation), who had gone missing since September 17, was found brutally murdered early on Friday at Pheiyol hill in Senapati district under Lamlai Police Station.
Ngamreishang Ningshen, 36, native of Alangh village in Ukhrul district, had been reportedly kidnapped by unidentified armed persons from Tangkhul Avenue, Nagaram here on September 17.
Police found Ningshen’s body with his hands tied behind his back.
It appeared that the former TKS vice-president Ningshen was clubbed to death by his kidnappers. Post mortem was conducted on his body at Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) mortuary here. Several deep cut marks were visible on his body including the head.His family said they believed Ningshen was killed by the kidnappers yesterday and later dumped his body at the site.
The victim had come to see his ailing sister at Langol in Imphal West on September 15. He stayed at his sister’s house for one night and about to leave Imphal on September 17.
The lifeless body of Ningshen was brought to Tangkhul Baptist Church, Imphal where a condolence meeting was held on his death.
Ningshen held the post of Khukhoklong or mantri (minister) of seven villages of Phungyar area and was also treasurer of Church Planning Committee of Alangh village.
A Large number of leaders from several Tangkhul civil society organisations including student and church bodies took part in the condolence meeting which condemned his killing.
His body was later sent back to his native village where the last rites will be held.
