DIMAPUR — Minister of NPWD (Housing and Mechanical Engineering), P Bashang Chang, during his recent visit to Tuensang town inspected the road black topping construction works from Bazaar police point to High School junction and expressed dissatisfaction with the poor quality workmanship.
He questioned the contractor and workers with regards to quality and workmanship and specifically stated that it was disrespectful to the people of Tuensang town. Ascertaining the poor workmanship in the presence of district administration and concerned department, the minister advised the contractor and construction site in-charge and labourers to rework in the interest of the public.
He assured the citizens that the remaining pending bills would not be released unless the work is completed in a satisfactory manner, stated an update from the press secretary to the minister.
Meanwhile after a thorough discussion, with initiative of the minister along with department officers of Mechanical Engineering and PHE, drainage linkage between Yungphaang village and Tuensang town has been diverted since the existing drainage system does not serve the purpose and getting clog regularly during monsoon season due to landslides, thereby creating severe inconvenience to the motorists and pedestrians.
It stated that the minister and his wife along with BJP officials visited the road connecting to the burial ground which is availed by various wards and sectors especially Jail Colony and Post Office sector.
It mentioned that public has faced untold hardship due to poor accessibility to the burial ground for the past many years. It added that people have to carry coffin and walk on foot for long distance.
It further stated that the minister has assured to construct a road from highway to the cemetery within few days.
