Dimapur, May 15 (EMN): Highlighting various measures taken by the state government to overcome Covid-19 pandemic with limited resources, minister Tongpang Ozukum, who is also in-charge of Kohima district task, has sought continued co-operation and support of the public.
Ozukum stated this while speaking at a public meeting at Tseminyu town on May 13. Stating that the state government is giving its best efforts in order to contain spread of the novel coronavirus, Ozukum has assured all possible assistance from the government. He has appealed the public of Tseminyu sub-division to shoulder equal responsibility in the fight against the virus.
During the meeting, ADC Tseminyu Nokchasashi has highlighted on the financial problem faced by the task force, particularly in setting up quarantine facilities in the sub-division. He has requested the concerned authority to deploy security personnel to man the quarantine facilities, an update from the press secretary to the minister stated.
The report also stated that civil society organisations led by the Rengma Hoho have expressed concern on the preparedness of the state government in accommodating Nagas from outside the state. They have urged the government to meticulously plan and make preparations so that the returnees do not face any inconveniences and difficulties.
Senior Medical Officer of CHC Tseminyu has briefed the visiting team on the preparedness on Covid-19 and also shared certain grievances faced by in the CHC.
Advisor in-charge for Kohima district Dr. Nicky Kire and advisor R Khing, who were also present in the meeting, thanked the apex organisations for their positive contributions and cooperation. Both the advisors have urged the public to extend their support to the task force.
SP Kohima Kevithuto, who was also present at the meeting, had assured to look into matter raised by ADC and others for sending more police personnel.
Dr. Asunu Thong, district TB programme officer, who also accompanied the legislators, spoke on the importance of using face mask, hand washing and setting up quarantine facilities.
After the meeting, the visiting team visited a quarantine facility at and also inspected CHC Tseminyu.
