DIMAPUR — The Minister of Public Works Department (Roads and Bridges), G Kaito Aye, stated that the opposition-less government of Nagaland is committed to promoting youth and sports and urged the youth to participate in these efforts.

He said this on Tuesday during the opening ceremony of the “15-U Sümi Hoho Trophy,” organised by the Sümi Games and Sports Association and hosted by the Western Sümi Hoho at Shokhuvi Village, Chümoukedima.

Aye encouraged the youth to participate in the tournament with the utmost dedication and discipline, emphasising the importance of unity and the significance of sports in bringing people together. The minister also emphasised the need for improvement and increased efforts from the Sumis in the sporting arena.

He urged the gathering to learn to forgive fellow tribesmen and become beacons of peace among other tribes.

Over 15 units affiliated with the Sümi Games and Sports Association are participating in the 9-day event, culminating on April 10.

Shikaho Zhimomi, the president of the Western Sümi Hoho, gave the event’s welcome address, and NK Naga sang the Sümi Games and Sports Association anthem.
