DIMAPUR — The Ghokhuvi Students' Union (GSU) marked its golden jubilee on Sunday with G Kaito Aye, Minister for Roads and Bridges, as the chief guest.
The event, themed ‘Together towards tomorrow,’ brought together students, village leaders, and community members to reflect on progress and plan for the future, an update stated.
In his keynote address, the minister highlighted Ghokhuvi's high literacy rates but stressed the need for quality education to compete with other Naga communities. “Today's youth must prepare for competitive exams—even Grade IV jobs require merit now, with no backdoor appointments,” Aye said.
Citing recent police constable recruitment for 1,176 posts that drew 33,882 applicants, including postgraduates, he urged students to work hard, stay committed, and secure their futures through excellence.
He noted the union's maturity after 50 years and called on the village to produce officers via competitive exams, earning respect and advancing alongside others. “When villages and youth succeed, society recognises them,” he added.

He encouraged admissions in Satoi block and urged students to pursue higher secondary courses at Government Higher Secondary School, Satakha.
He also appealed to church leaders to guide youth toward discipline and shared responsibility for a progressive society.
Aye extended wishes for Ghokhuvi's blessings and growth post-jubilee.
“The golden jubilee underscores Ghokhuvi's commitment to education and community development,” the update added.
