Mini-parliament held at St. Joseph’s College (Autonomous), Jakhama
KOHIMA — Neichute Doulo, CEO of Entrepreneurs Associates, stated on Saturday that political science students must question whatever news is published about the Naga people and urged them to learn and understand the roots and history of their people.
Speaking as a guest speaker at the annual mini-parlament of the department of Political Science, St. Joseph’s College (Autonomous), Jakhama, held at the college’s indoor stadium in Kohima, he stated that Nagas have a great civilization and reminded the students that Nagas have stood out from the stone age period to modernity without any monarch.
He stressed the importance of knowing and understanding Naga history, as well as respecting it with pride and dignity. He encouraged them to be confident in learning and understanding history by reading books about Nagas.
Stating that politics is either ‘swing together or sink together’, he encouraged the students to know that they are living in a society that places emphasis on equal treatment.
He recommended going beyond textbooks and pursuing Ph.D. programmes in order to research and bring up more knowledge and writings about Naga political thought and civilization and study the political systems of each Naga village.
The mini-parliament debated the Uniform Civil Code, commercialisation of education, digital privacy, the Manipur crisis, 20 years of Neiphiu Rio’s government, and capital punishment.
