Dimapur, Sep. 22 (EMN): With the initiative of the deputy commissioner of Mon, Thavaseelan K, a Bengaluru-based Mindtree Foundation donated 25 desktops to Wangkhao Government College (WGC) in Mon on September 20.
The desktops were donated with an aim to make a deep and lasting impact on education, employment and creating a better world for people with disabilities,a DIPR report stated. It added that the remaining 25 desktops would be distributed to government schools and health units (CHCs/PHCs) in the district.
It mentioned that WGC is the only government college in Mon with the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) assessment scheduled for 2021. It added that installation of the desktops would help the college secure good grades from NAAC as it would significantly enhance the student computer ratio.
The programme was chaired by assistant professor, N Mongyung Phom, while the introductory speech was delivered by the principal, I Wati Imchen.
Meanwhile, the deputy commissioner of Mon has conveyed gratitude to Mindtree Foundation for the donation and requested for their continued support in augmenting the education infrastructure in the district.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by assistant professor and IQAC coordinator, Shongya Konyak.
