DIMAPUR — A one-day seminar on “Understanding mental health: changing the narrative” was organised by the heads of departments of Modern Higher Secondary School (MHSS), Kohima, in collaboration with Young Minds Org on September 14.
According to an update from the college, the resource persons of the seminar were Vivoto Koso, a counselling psychologist, and Daewon Nongrem, a sports and counselling psychologist.
The key topics of the seminar included an introduction to mental health, understanding stress, stress management, coping strategies, suicide prevention, and improving overall well-being.
The seminar was chaired by Abenla Longkumer, head of the department of Arts, while Akiholi Zhimo, head of the department of Commerce, expressed words of gratitude.
Also, the school organised a one-day faculty development programme on the same day, with Rev. Sr. Sania Josephine, Novice Mistress and Superior of the FMA Novitiate, as the resource person.

The topic of the programme was personality development and team building and the main objective was to familiarise teachers with emerging ideas and trends on developing personality and working as a team in the 21st century.
She emphasised the various qualities a teacher should possess in both life and work. She noted that a teacher serves as a link between parents and the school, with the school’s reflection dependent on the teacher’s commitment and clear vision.
She also highlighted the importance of teamwork in creating a cohesive unit.
