MGM College holds second graduation ceremony
Dimapur, Oct. 8 (EMN): Mar Gregorios Memorial (MGM) College held its second graduation ceremony for 2019-22 batch on October 8 in the college auditorium. A total of 32 students graduated in BA General and Honours from the departments of English, History, Political Science, Sociology, Economics and Education.
In his welcome address, the college principal, Rev. Fr. Dr. PS Varghese, has emphasised on the importance of education and appreciated the teachers of MGM Higher Secondary School and MGM College for their tireless efforts towards the development of the MGM group of institutions.
In his address, the director and manager Bishop, Dr. Joseph Mar Dionysius, advised the graduates on the need to have discipline, dedication and passion towards striving for their goals, an update from the college stated on Saturday.
The chief guest and secretary of Power department, Mohammad Ali Shihab, reminded that education is a life-long and transformative process. He cited an example of his own unyielding zeal and experiences that he endured as a testimony of his resilience and perseverance.
Quoting a phrase “A butterfly doesn’t look at the caterpillar with shame,” he made the listeners realise that “our past is what makes us what we are today so we need to look at our past, not with shame but with the desire to learn.” He further advised the students to apply for all competitive examination without letting any opportunity pass by and also advised the students to become avid readers.
The topper of 2019-22 batch, Heibale, was awarded with Mar Theodosius meritorious trophy and Joseph Mar Dionysius meritorious cash awards. Semester toppers for the year 2022 were also felicitated and the Priyanka Ganta Scholarship for second semester toppers 2022 was awarded to Amarjit Chetri.
Out of 32 graduates, 27 students were present to receive the awards and certificates.
It mentioned that the college currently offers BA General and BA Honours in English, Political Science, Education, Sociology, History and Economics along with B.Com General and Honours in Accountancy and Management.
