DIMAPUR — MGM College, Dimapur, held its annual cultural and literary day on February 24 at the college auditorium.

According to a press release, the day featured a variety of presentations, with the four houses—green, red, blue, and yellow—engaged in a creative competition that showcased the rich cultural heritage of the country and their artistic talents.

During the formal session, Fuchumo, assistant professor in the department of History, highlighted the importance of preserving cultural heritage and the essence of intangible cultural attributes in his address.

Keyitwale, cultural secretary of the MGM College Students’ Union, briefed the audience on the significance of culture and reiterated the importance of observing such a day.

The competitions for the cultural event included winnowing, traditional fire-making, a cultural show, folk-fusion song, and cultural dance. For the literary event, the competitions comprised essay writing, extemporaneous speech, slam poetry, and debate.

Principal Fr. Dr. P S Varghese lauded the teachers and students for organising such a mega event and informed that a weeklong series of cultural and sports events will be held at the college and Sewak ground from February 26 to March 1.
