Dimapur, August 7 (EMN): An Open Football Tournament kicked off at Old Showuba village on Monday to mark the celebration of Metumneo festival.
President, Dimapur District GBs Association, Tokuho Suhoi Neho graced the inaugural function as the chief guest and declared the event open.
Addressing the gathering the chief guest exhorted that sports activities bring a lot of positive opportunities for the players and enhances one’s accomplishments. Sports are the way to big achievement in one’s life, however it depends on one’s active involvement and experiences they have, he added.Tokuho was of the view that getting interested in any of the sport gives a worldwide identification and lifelong achievement and athletes having interest in the sports, play sports with their best effort even when they defeat or lose and thus they become much disciplined all through the life.
Acknowledging the organisers for creating a platform for talented youngsters to not only exhibit their talent but for people from far and near to come together, he believed that sports can unite people paving way to bring about unity and understanding among people.
Earlier, invocation was pronounced by Rev. Tochumong, pastor SBC. Introduction and presentation was done by Jangpuh Kihomong, president SSU.
Keorun Jangru, VCC Old Showuba delivered the welcome address and Showuba Students' Union presented cultural dances.
