Meriyan Health and Wellness Centre inaugurated in Wokha
DIMAPUR — The Health and Wellness Centre (HWC), Meriyan, under the Wozhuro block of Wokha, was inaugurated on February 10 by Dr. Motsuthung Patton, the Mission Director of the National Health Mission, Department of Health and Family Welfare.
According to an update, in his inaugural speech during the programme, Dr. Motsuthung Patton mentioned that Meriyan is a good catchment area where people from Totsu, Sankiton, Shaki, Phiro and even the Ralan area can come and avail medical treatment.
He sought public participation to run the health centre efficiently and urged the health workers to be sincere while dispensing their duties. Patton also emphasised the importance of maintaining proper records and submitting monthly reports on time by health workers in order to further develop the health centre.
The Chairperson of the programme, Alow Khuvung, Chairman of the Meriyan Village Council, expressed gratitude to the medical department for fulfilling the wish of Meriyan villagers to have a health centre and assured full support to the health workers.
Dr. Zubenthung Kikon, Chief Medical Officer of Wokha, on the occasion appealed to the people of Meriyan to have a sense of responsibility towards the health centre and cooperate with the health workers.
Dr. Temjen, Medical Officer at Wozhuro Primary Health Centre, also gave a short speech.
Meriyan HWC will serve Totsu, L Yanthan, and Meriyan, which have a combined population of 730. The land for the health centre was donated by Chumrenthung Khuvung.
A medical camp was also conducted on the occasion, where various health services and free medicines were provided to the beneficiaries.
