Merang Jamir wins gold at Northeast shooting championship
Dimapur, Aug. 14 (EMN): The 6th North East Zone Shooting Championship was held in Aizawl and Mizoram from Aug. 6 till the 13th.
Nagaland Rifle Association (NRA) issued a press release on Tuesday stating that 225 shooters from Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram and Nagaland participated at the championship. Assam walked away with the team championship followed by Manipur.
The press release stated that six shooters from NRA represented the state. Merang Jamir secured gold in 50 meter .22 peep sight rifle prone veteran individual and also received the Gajen Chandra Kalita Memorial Running Trophy, North East Zone Shooting Championship (Officials) best rifle shooter along with a cash prize of INR 5,000.
Sesou Nuh, a 13 year old from G Rio School, Kohima Scored 366/400 under the youth women individual and Vipeto Shohe, 13 Years old also from G Rio School, Kohima Scored 365/400 under the youth men individual to qualify for the 62nd National Shooting Championship Competitions (NSCC) 2018 to be held at the Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Ranges, New Delhi from Nov. 16 till the 30th, added the press release.
