Dimapur, Dec. 27: Reports on Tuesday have stated that a ‘mentally ill’ person by the name Kiutsumong Tikhir allegedly killed his father, one Shulimong Tikhir, with a machete at Mutonger village under Pungro sub-division in Kiphire district on December 21.
According to an email from a source, both the father and son had gone to the fields and had returned. “In the evening when the father was discussing with his brother on some matter in the kitchen, the mentally ill son took out a dao and attacked the father on the head and also tried to attack the other person but escaped through a window,” the email stated.
According to the email, the “culprit was mentally suffering from 3-4 months back and was under medication. He also studied till class nine at Kiphire but due to his epilepsy problems he was taken out of school.”
The accused was arrested with the help of Village Guards and was ‘forwarded’ to Tezpur Psychiatric Hospital for further treatment yesterday, it was informed.
