Dimapur, June 18 (EMN):
The pothole-ridden road at the Dhobinalla traffic point, which has become commuters’ nightmare and cause traffic jam, was repaired by the members of Dimapur 24/7, a social media group, on Friday.

One of the members of Dimapur 24/7 told Eastern Mirror that they filled the potholes at the junction with concrete to ease the traffic congestion and after considering durability factor.

He informed that filling up the potholes would cost around INR 15,000 and that it would use the revenue generated from local advertisement on Dimapur 24/7 social media accounts.

He added that people should not always wait for the government but should come forward in whatever way possible to help for the benefit and welfare of the society.

A traffic police personnel at the junction told this newspaper that potholes often create traffic jam at the spot and even could cause accidents.

He appealed to the concerned department to maintain the road, especially in main junctions where movement of vehicles is more.

He added that the traffic police and two-wheeler taxi drivers in Dhobinala had filled the potholes a few months ago but it did not last long as they used loose mud gravel to fill them.

He acknowledged the social media group for their initiatives and said that it would ease the traffic movement as well as enhance public safety.
